Medicare supplement plans offer a variety of coverage and benefits to individuals who qualify based on their age, current income, and health status. Each year a new set of guaranteed issue right age rules go into effect. So, as you get closer to the age when you become eligible for coverage there may be some significant changes to your guaranteed issue right.
In order to determine if you are one of the people in a group that qualifies for guaranteed issue rights, you will have to complete an application and return to the local Medicare office. You will also have to write a supplemental form that state the health problems you have, as well as any medications you may be taking. You will not be able to enroll in these programs if you do not write this form. After your application and supplemental forms are processed, you will then receive an enrollment letter that you will need to turn in to the local Medicare office. You must then pay any applicable premium before the guaranteed issue right of your selected Medicare supplement plan begins.
