At Detroit City Distillery, eight childhood friends partnered to create a product that celebrates their city’s entrepreneurial spirit. The distillery’s small-batch artisanal whiskey, gin and vodka are made with local ingredients sourced directly from farms near its downtown Detroit tasting room and distillery in the famed Eastern Market.

From the shiny copper stills to the scent of fresh grain, The Whiskey Factory is the perfect place to experience the art of distilling firsthand. Guests can tour the facility, sample cocktails and take in the smell of aging whiskey barrels in the distillery’s rickhouse.

A reincarnation of the infamous ’60s cocktail, the Sidecar combines bourbon with lime juice and cointreau, creating a sweet, smooth drink that’s easy to sip. If you’re in the mood for something a bit stronger, try a Coppercraft gin and take a sensory walk through a Michigan white pine forest thanks to 13 botanicals in this spirited spirit.
